Administration

Heather Cox

Heather Cox
CEO
Heather Cox joined the Turning Point team as the Director of Nursing in 2017 and was later appointed to Chief Nursing Officer. In 2023, she was named Chief Executive Officer. Prior to her tenure at Turning Point, Heather held nursing and leadership positions in the acute care setting as an ICU nurse and ICU Director.
Heather completed her BSN in 2002 at Georgia Baptist College of Nursing of Mercer University and her master’s degree in nursing administration in 2020 at Thomas University. Heather grew up in Thomasville, GA but has made Moultrie her residence since 2002. Heather is very involved in her local community, having served in the Kiwanis Club and Moultrie Service League. Heather has a passion for those suffering from mental illness and substance use disorder and works with her team to create a safe and therapeutic environment for the patients they serve.

Peggy Yates

Turning Point’s Clinical Director, Peggy Yates, has been on-staff at Turning Point Care Center since 1997 and has served as Clinical Director since 2003. Prior to that she was a staff clinician and served as the Program Director for the adult Partial Hospitalization Program. Mrs. Yates led the Turning Point team in the opening of the acute mental health units, the women’s trauma program and both the Men’s and Women’s Partial Hospitalization Programs and Intensive Outpatient programs.
She continues to oversee a team of clinicians and discharge planners who serve the patients at Turning Point in providing group and individual therapy as well as psychoeducation and intensive aftercare planning. Mrs. Yates completed her Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice at Valdosta State University in 1988 and her Master’s Degree in Social Work at Valdosta State University in 1998. She obtained her LCSW in 2002. Mrs. Yates is local to Moultrie and is an active member of the community serving on several local Boards. She is passionate about mental health awareness and treatment and has worked hard to see that services are accessible to all those suffering from mental illness.

Joseph Dean

Joseph Dean
Director of Nursing
Joseph Dean is the Director of Nursing at Turning Point Care Center where he oversees the day-to-day nursing operations of the Main Campus, West Campus, Sunset Campus, and Men’s IOP.
Prior to being named Director of Nursing, Joseph served as the Day Shift Nurse Manager for two years and the Night Shift Nurse Manager for a year and a half. In those roles, he was responsible for managing the nursing staff and for assisting the DON wherever needed. He was responsible for completing the nursing staff schedules, maintaining daily reports, assisting with admissions and transfers, etc.
During his time as Nurse Manager, Joseph was nominated by his peers and selected by his superiors as the Employee of the Month in November of 2021.
Prior to becoming a nurse, Joseph worked for three years with the City of Moultrie where he served the citizens of Moultrie as a city Police Officer.
Joseph earned his Associates of Science in Nursing Degree from Southern Regional Technical College in Thomasville, Ga. He is currently enrolled at Western Governor’s University and is working toward his RN-MSN in Nursing Leadership and Management.

Turning Point’s Medical Director, Dr. Muhammad M. Alam, has been on-staff at Turning Point Care Center since 2013. He specializes in psychiatry and oversees our team of doctors, nurse practitioners and physician assistants. Dr. Alam completed his residency at Bronx-Lebanon Hospital Center in New York and worked for several years in psychiatry in that state before moving down to Moultrie, Georgia to join the Turning Point medical staff.
He has also been deployed as a psychiatrist with the U.S. Army Reserves and had been stationed in Iraq. Dr. Alam has made Moultrie his home and facilitates the collegial atmosphere enjoyed by the Turning Point medical staff.

Chandler Bearden
Director of Admissions
Chandler Bearden became Turning Point’s Director of Intake in 2025. Chandler has diverse experience as an RN within medical facilities. His compassion for those suffering from mental health and addictions led him to join our team.
Chandler obtained his LPN and later his RN at Southern Regional Technical College in Tifton, GA. He oversees our team of RN’s and mental health clinicians in the admissions department at Turning Point.

Erin Weber
Chief Financial Officer
Erin Weber became Turning Point’s Chief Financial Officer in June of 2025. Erin has worked in the healthcare industry for over 25 years in both Profit and Non-Profit facilities with most of her time spent as the Director of Finance at an Acute Care Hospital near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania.
Erin grew up near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania where she began her career path in finance working alongside her family long before she graduated from college. She attended Slippery Rock University where she completed her Bachelor’s degree with honors and has worked in both the manufacturing and healthcare industries over the years. She recently moved to South Georgia, taking the next step to further her career in the healthcare industry.
Her commitment to her profession and drive to succeed led her to join the Management Team at Turning Point Care Center where she supports the mission of the company and hopes to give back to the communities she now live and works in.

Katy Bailey
Director of Business Development
Katy Bailey joined the team at Turning Point in 2023 as a Business Development Representative, and was later appointed to Director of Business Development in 2025.
Katy completed her Master’s Degree in Clinical Psychology in 2005, and later was awarded a Master’s in Business Administration in 2014. In her career, she has held clinical and client-facing roles, as well as those in business and community outreach. Katy oversees a team of representatives that travel across much of the United States to provide information, resources and link individuals to treatment services. Katy has been an advocate of those with mental health challenges and substance use disorders over her 20-year career.

Michelle Hamilton has been part of the Turning Point HR team for over 11 years. As a Human Resources Director within the healthcare sector, she provides strategic leadership that aligns human capital initiatives with Turning Point’s organizational goals. Michelle holds a bachelor’s degree in business administration with a management focus and has more than 24 years of experience supporting individuals and organizations through resource development, workforce strategy, and operational guidance within multiple industries.

Turning Point Care Center provides a full continuum of care, from inpatient through to outpatient, for adults struggling with chemical dependency, acute psychiatric disorders or a dual diagnosis of both.
